The Watts Hall Community Players has begun rehearsing this summer’s musical, Once Upon a Mattress, and still has room for more community members to become involved in the production.

Once Upon a Mattress is a twist on the classic fairy tale “The Princess and the Pea” in which the queen tries to keep her son, Prince Dauntless, from marrying. She manages to sabotage each effort until the prince brings home a very unconventional princess.

There are still openings for 20- to 30-year-olds who could be cast as knights. In addition, the team could use stage crew, set painters and seamstresses.

The show will be performed on the last weekend in June and the first weekend in July. Rehearsals will continue through May and June until opening night.

Anyone interested in participating can contact producer Emily Carver at wattshallcommunityplayers@gmail.com or director Lynna Henderson at 372-6545.
