Heather Johnson, commissioner of the Maine Department of Economic and Community Development, will be the featured speaker at Penobscot Bay Regional Chamber of Commerce’s business breakfast on Wednesday, February 26, from 7 to 9 a.m. at the Samoset Resort in Rockport. Registration deadline is Friday, February 21.

Commissioner Johnson will speak about the newly released plan “Maine Economic Development Strategy 2020–2029: A Focus on Talent and Innovation,” which she presented to Gov. Mills and the Maine Legislature in December. The plan states that “by 2030, Maine will be an international leader with a vibrant, sustainable, environmentally responsible economy. All across the state, the people of Maine will have access to an unmatched quality of life and good-paying jobs.” Johnson will share plan details and discuss how the strategy will affect Knox County and the greater midcoast.
