The board of directors of Good Tern Co-op, 750 MainStreet, Rockland, has selected Scott Simons Architects of Portland to help develop an expansion design. Building- expansion committee chair John Lichtman stated, “We chose the Scott Simon group... because of their commitment to community involvement during the design process; their prolific use of mass timbers and local materials; their experience and expertise with food preparation and service facilities; and their commitment to... designing a zero-energy-input building.”

Good Tern Co-op began operation in the south end of Rockland in 1980 and moved to its present location in 2003. In 2018 the co-op purchased the adjacent Hole in the Wall Bagels shop with an eye to improving parking and to allow for future growth. The board plans to solicit community feedback during the planning phase for the expansion.
