Skidompha Public Library’s Chats with Champions series will present Tom Atwell, gardening columnist for the Maine Sunday Telegram, for a talk on invasive plants on Thursday, March 23, at 10 a.m. in the library’s Porter Meeting Hall, 184 Main Street in Damariscotta, free and open to the public. Atwell, pictured here, will discuss proposed legislation that would make it illegal to buy, sell, import, export or grow some 33 plants considered invasive, likely invasive or potentially invasive — including multiflora rose, burning bush and Japanese barberry — and their replacement species. Guests are reminded to allow time for parking. For more information, call 563-5513.
