Bridges Home Services, a registered personal support specialist (PSS) agency, is offering tuition assistance for candidates enrolled in a 50-hour PSS course to be held in April at Mid-Coast School of Technology Adult Education in Rockland. Bridges, a division of Spectrum Generations, is seeking licensed caregivers to fill PSS positions in Knox, Waldo and Lincoln counties, and will consider hiring those in the course and paying their tuition.
Classes will be held from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on six Mondays starting April 3. Topics include how to provide personal care, dealing with emergencies, communication skills, reporting and documentation, and issues of consumer rights and aging. The program is approved by Maine Department of Health and Human Services and gives successful graduates state certification to work in home care programs and assisted living facilities. It also provides valuable training for individuals caring for a family member at home.
Application deadline is March 23. For more information or to request an application, call 596-7752, extension 3.
