“Taking Notice,” an exhibit of oil paintings by Betty Schopmeyer, will be on display in the Kramer Gallery at Belfast Free Library through March. Schopmeyer, formerly the education director at Penobscot Marine Museum, says she decided to call the exhibit “Taking Notice” “to celebrate what painting has given me over the past few years: a new way of looking at the world.… I look at — and more importantly see — things differently now, a process that continues to develop as I continue to learn and experiment with color, design, paint application, and levels of interpretation. Every day I look forward to the process, not just the end result, and that, too, is a gift.” For more information, call the library at 338-3884, extension 10.
