Medomak Valley Land Trust and the Lincoln County Fish and Game Club are gearing up for their annual fiddlehead forage along the Medomak River.
The trip will be led by David Trahan, president of the Fish and Game Club, who will share some great fiddlehead foraging sites and give tips on proper fiddlehead identification.
The annual forage was cancelled last year due to the fiddleheads' early arrival.
Because of the unusual weather this winter and spring, no date has been set yet for this year's outing. People who would like to participate should contact the land trust to sign up, and information about the date and time will be sent to those who register once a date, likely in early May, has been chosen. To register, contact MVLT at firstname.lastname@example.org, or call the office at 832-5570.
Participants will canoe and kayak up the Medomak River in search of fiddleheads. A limited number of canoes will be available for those who don't have one. The trip is also an opportunity to spot interesting wildlife, so binoculars and cameras are recommended.
